The Dances of Universal Peace and Walking Meditations are spiritual practice in motion. Drawing on the sacred phrases, scripture, and poetry of the many spiritual traditions of the earth, the Dances blend chant, live music and evocative movement into a living experience of unity, peace and integration. This taste of our true nature - as Universal Peace - opens the possibility of a deep spiritual revolution within the person. The Dances are practiced in 58 countries around the world.

Susan Slack has been leading the Dances for over four decades. She was Certified by DUP network co-founder,  Dr. Neil Douglas-Klotz over 30 years ago. She is currently mentored by Taznim Fernandez,  also a co-founder of the Dances of Universal Peace Network. Susan has been designated as a Senior Mentor, meaning that she is authorized to teach others the lead the dances working toward Certification if desired.

We'll Dance on the Solstices and Equinox (or as close as possible)  We'll sing of Light and Inspiration and speak with our bodies of power and strength as so many have before us. We'll teach the words from the many languages of the Earth, much like kirtan. Some call this practice "Moving Meditation". Come enjoy freedom and joy, be part of a community (no commitments) improve your outlook, maybe your health and join in the current of peace, within and without.

Come join our next circle, Saturday, June 29, 2024. You are invited into this spacious spiritual home. A community has grown around their independent principle of universal truth from all spiritual paths.

Ann Arbor Dances of Universal Peace 2024

The Dances of Universal Peace is a practice with interactive movement and chanting of sacred phrases from world traditions, taught patiently before each Dance. You are invited to listen and participate in the sound of the sacred phrase, to breathe together while we walk/dance in a circle. Often called moving meditation, musical tai chi or moving kirtan, live musicians will lovingly guide your steps. We welcome musicians to join after a practice session.

This ancient and natural tradition has been practiced among most cultures since the beginning of civilizations. There is very little to learn except to relax and enjoy singing and swaying with others. This is less about being good singer or accomplished dancer, and more about joining in the human custom of spiritual community celebration and ceremony. It offers brain health, emotional well being, deep meditation, social interaction and somatic body language awareness.

These Dances are practiced around the globe and under this name, have existed since the 1960s. All combined, Dances of Universal Peace provides an opportunity for healing and creation of spiritual light for ourselves and our Universe.

Masking is optional and welcomed. The room is large with fans and we ask that you wash your hands or sanitize as there is lots of hand-holding. May all beings be well and happy!
