AUTUMN EQUINOX

DANCES OF UNIVERSAL PEACE

Come join the circle as we acknowledge the Four Directions. In these days of equal light and dark, we live in the direction of the West. We'll honor the Ancestors. Like leaves we'll let go and notice what we're storing up for the shorter days to come. We'll sing and dance to live music. And because now we meet on a Sunday afternoon, we can have a cup of tea and whatever little some thing you might want to bring (only if that is what you like to do) and get to know one another for a few minutes and still be home before dark.

Come solo or with a partner or bunch of friends. All welcome. No experience required because 'certified leader, Susan Slack is trained to teach short chants and easy folk dance movements on the spot. Sure would be good to see you.

$10 or whatever is good for you

The Dances of Universal Peace is a practice with interactive movement and chanting of sacred phrases from world traditions, taught patiently before each Dance. You are invited to listen and participate in the sound of the sacred phrase, to breathe together while we walk/dance in a circle. Often called moving meditation, musical tai chi or moving kirtan, live musicians will lovingly guide your steps. We welcome musicians to join after a practice session.

This ancient and natural tradition has been practiced among most cultures since the beginning of civilizations. There is very little to learn except to relax and enjoy singing and swaying with others. This is less about being good singer or accomplished dancer, and more about joining in the human custom of spiritual community celebration and ceremony. It offers brain health, emotional well being, deep meditation, social interaction and somatic body language awareness.

These Dances are practiced around the globe and under this name, have existed since the 1960s. www.dancesofuniversalpeace.org All combined, Dances of Universal Peace provides an opportunity for healing and creation of spiritual light for ourselves and our Universe.

Masking is optional and welcomed. The room is large with fans and we ask that you wash your hands or sanitize as there is lots of hand-holding. May all beings be well and happy!

Autumn Equinox Dances of Universal Peace(1).jpg

The Dances of Universal Peace and Walking Meditations are spiritual practice in motion. Drawing on the sacred phrases, scripture, and poetry of the many spiritual traditions of the earth, the Dances blend chant, live music and evocative movement into a living experience of unity, peace and integration. This taste of our true nature - as Universal Peace - opens the possibility of a deep spiritual revolution within the person. The Dances are practiced in 58 countries around the world.

Susan Slack has been leading the Dances for over four decades. She was Certified by DUP network co-founder,  Dr. Neil Douglas-Klotz over 30 years ago. She is currently mentored by Taznim Fernandez,  also a co-founder of the Dances of Universal Peace Network. Susan has been designated as a Senior Mentor, meaning that she is authorized to teach others to lead the dances working toward Certification if desired.
